External Nose

No matter why you wish to change the appearance of your nose, we will find a solution that meets your expectations and ensures a natural, harmonious result that suits your facial profile.

When removing a hump or bump on the nose, the procedure is performed under general anesthesia using the closed technique. This means the skin is lifted through the nostrils, leaving no visible scars. Bruising around the face will occur in the weeks following surgery, as part of the nose needs to be removed, which requires the nasal bones to be fractured. Irregularities in the shape of the nose rarely occur afterwards, but if they become visible after the healing process (6 - 12 months), they will be corrected free of charge. The nasal tip usually does not change shape, although in rare cases it may become slightly wider.

A cosmetic operation of the nasal tip is also referred to as “tip-plasty.” In some cases, the two alar cartilages that form the nasal tip may be asymmetrical, too large, or drooping, which can be the reason for wanting to change its shape.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, using either the closed or open technique, depending on the desired result and the surgeon’s recommendation.

In some cases, a crooked nose is caused by the nasal septum. If this is the case, correcting the deviation is often more extensive than with other cosmetic nose surgeries. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia using the open technique. To straighten the nose, the nasal bones must be fractured, which causes bruising around the face in the weeks following surgery. A splint will be applied for the first week.

3D simulation

For cosmetic nose surgeries, we use the Vectra 3D Imaging System, allowing us to simulate the result with you before the procedure.

Additional Information

We make it a priority to ensure that our patients are fully informed about the process before we perform any surgery. This way, everyone understands the procedure, and you can feel safe throughout the entire journey.

Before the surgery, we examine your nose during a consultation and talk with you about your wishes, expectations, and considerations. We will also create a 3D model of your face, which allows us to digitally adjust and reshape the form of your nose. This way, we can simulate the final result and determine whether your wishes and expectations are realistic to achieve.

When you have surgery with us, you can expect that our focus is always on you, and that we aim for a natural and harmonious result that suits both you and your face. At the same time, we are mindful that nature sets certain limits. That is why we always carry out a 3D simulation, so both you and the surgeon can visualize the result before the procedure.

It may take up to one year for the healing process to be fully complete and for the final result to be visible. If the outcome does not meet your expectations, a secondary surgery may be considered.

The surgery will be performed under general anesthesia, which means you must arrive fasting on the day of your operation. You may eat solid food and dairy products up until 6 hours before anesthesia.

Clear fluids such as water, squash, clear juice, soft drinks, as well as coffee and tea (without milk) may be consumed up until 2 hours before. It is not necessary to fast longer than recommended, and it can be a good idea to drink something sweet up until 2 hours before.

On the day of the operation, we recommend that you take a shower, wash your hair, and wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Remember to remove nail polish, make-up, jewelry, piercings, false eyelashes, and contact lenses.

Please arrange transport home after your surgery, as you are not allowed to drive yourself. You should continue taking your usual medication unless otherwise agreed with the anesthesiologist or surgeon.

We will guide you throughout the entire process to ensure that you feel well-prepared. We also recommend that you have reviewed and read the patient information before the operation.

After a nose surgery, you will typically experience swelling, discoloration, and facial pain for weeks to months following the procedure.

The healing process varies from person to person, but as a general guideline, you can expect to see the final visible result around 6 -12 months after surgery.

We will schedule a follow-up examination 6 months after the procedure. If the result is not as expected, we will make a plan for adjustment and correction.
